The Lemosho route on Kilimanjaro starts west of the peak. From there, the path moves through the rainforest and ascends to the Shira Plateau. It is relatively flat until Shira 2 camp. Then it circles mountain in a counter clockwise direction to Barranco, Karanga and Barafu. From Barafu, which is high camp, the summit ascent travels northwest.
The descent is down the same route back to Barafu, then south to the exit gate.
The Lemosho route can be done in 6 to 8 days, with the 8 day route being the most popular. The 8 day route is the most favorable in terms of acclimatization and safety. Therefore, we strongly recommend doing the 8 day Lemosho route versus other variations.
We offer the 8 day Lemosho route as a group climb or private climb. The 7 day Lemosho route is offered as a private climb only. We do not operate the 6 day Lemosho route and would suggest the 6 day Machame as the better alternative for a similar, but shorter trail.
